The potential of your inner light

Train your mind.
Tune into your emotions.
Connect with the subtle.

In this Phosphenism course, inner light, thought and rhythm come together in a practice focused on cognitive development, emotional balance and the exploration of consciousness.

Performance. Balance.
Connection.

Concentration and memory. Emotional calm. Spiritual exploration. Three complementary areas of practice.

01 / NEUROCOGNITION

Cognitive
performance.

Train your concentration, memory and creativity through practices that associate inner light with thought. Work towards developing your cognitive abilities.

Abilities you will work on
Attention · Memory · Learning · Creativity

02 / EMOTIONAL BALANCE

Emotional
equalizer.

Make your inner light a point of support as you seek the calm you have been looking for. Work with rhythm and attention to recognise and balance your emotions.

Calm · Rhythm · Emotional awareness

03 / CONSCIOUSNESS

Connection
with the subtle.

Explore the capacity of your inner light to access the subconscious and supraconsciousness. Meditation, intuition and spiritual connection through your personal experience of the method.

What would you like
to explore?

One idea. Your full attention.

You will learn how to associate an idea or a piece of learning material with a phosphene. A way to practise attention using an inner visual point of reference.

A taste of what you will practise, with your teacher’s guidance.

Ambient light
matters too.

Part of the method, starting with everyday life.

In Phosphenism, we also work with the light around us: natural light, the lighting in a room and how it relates to what we do. Studying, creating and resting are different activities; learning to observe that difference is part of the method.

01 / AT WORK

Daylight works with you too.

The ILO recommends making use of natural light at work. Appropriate lighting helps reduce eyestrain and errors. We start by observing your space and how you feel in it.

02 / WHEN LEARNING

Learn in a supportive environment.

Philips SchoolVision shows how a multinational applies ambient lighting to children’s learning. By adjusting intensity and colour tone, the classroom offers different conditions for focusing or finding calm.

03 / YOUR MOOD

Winter can affect how we feel.

Fewer daylight hours can come with changes in energy, sleep and mood. Seasonal depression is a clinical expression of that relationship. In the course, we observe our energy and mood and practise working with emotional balance.

Light, seasons and mood

In the course, we bring this approach into everyday life: attention for learning and creating, calm for finding your balance and space to explore the subtle.

The method, made simple

Understand it.
Practise it.
Observe it.

Phosphenism, developed by Dr Francis Lefebure, combines work with phosphenes, mental activity and rhythm.

In these practices, we call the irregular, changing luminous image that remains after the light source is removed a phosphene: a visual afterimage.

In the method, we speak of “mental effervescence”: bringing attention and imagination into motion, cultivating calm and making room for a connection with the subtle.

Before you begin

You may be
wondering…

Do I need meditation skills or previous experience?

The introductory course is designed for beginners. Your teacher explains the exercises and guides the practice.

What does “supraconsciousness” mean here?

This is the method’s term for its dimension of inner exploration and expansion of conscious experience. It is approached as a personal experience, not as a guaranteed extraordinary ability or a scientifically established outcome.

Is it a therapy for anxiety or depression?

No. This page presents an educational course and personal exploration. Clinical light therapy and psychological or medical treatments have their own aims and protocols. The course does not replace them.

Will I look at the sun or at a very intense light?

Do not look directly at the sun or improvise with intense light sources. The practices require a suitable source and your teacher’s instructions. If you have an eye condition, photosensitivity or another relevant condition, seek advice before participating.

How much does it cost and how do I enrol?

The in-person course takes place in Barcelona on 7 November 2026 and costs €225. Approximate times: 9:30–14:30 and 16:00–19:00. We will let you know the venue a few days before the course. Choose “Enrol now” to complete secure payment with Stripe, or “I’d like more information” so we can contact you.
